Knit Boise = New Website + Spring Classes

I am pleased to announce this new website, Knit Boise! I've been crunching over my computer screen (and knitting projects) over the past week to get this site up in-time for my first classes at the end March.

From now on, the Knit Boise blog will be posted on my website (and not Substack). If you've already subscribed, no need to subscribe again.

Alright, enough business. Let's talk about these first classes. You all must be wondering WHERE am I teaching? I plan to teach at a variety of venues. The first opportunity is at Chara Designs, the fashion studio of Sherry Bittner! Sherry Bittner is a lovely person in the fiber arts community. I have a memory of her at a knit-along wearing a vibrant shawl of all shades of green: fern, emerald, lime green. Her personality is just as bright. Sherry knits, weaves, sews, and has her own fashion line — Chara Designs. She recently expanded her studio in Boise to accommodate knitting groups and classes.

I'm looking forward to teach knitting classes in Sherry's new space. The studio is full of bright colors, textures, and designs. Sherry's goal is to grow a community workspace that nurtures connection and creativity.

New Classes designed for Confident Beginner Knitters

On my Class page, I describe Confident Beginners as: "You've practiced the knit stitch enough to make a scarf (that's too short to wear) and you want to see what else you can make. You know how to cast on. You've dabbled with purling (could use some more practice). Really, you're itching to expand your skills and learn how to fix your mistakes. What else can you learn besides knitting a square?"

I notice many folks who filled out my survey loosely fit within this category. Maybe you've taken a few knitting classes, or know the basics, and want to expand on your skills.

These upcoming classes are for you! Woven Cable Headband is on Sunday March 19th from 1-3 and the Spring Shawl is on Sunday April 2nd from 1-3:30. Take a look at these class descriptions to see if they might interest you.

Fix that Knit! For All Levels

I'm excited to offer a class option that's non-project specific. Fix That Knit is a class where you bring any questions you have about your projects, and we'll work through them together.

This class is nice if you have independent projects, need extra support, and would like to knit in a group environment. It's easy to become stuck in a knitting project. Come to this class to become UN-stuck.

Crochet Classes and Private Lessons

While I am not much of a crocheter, I can recommend my friend and colleague Zena who offers small group classes and private lessons (knitting too). You can contact Zena via email: zfiberclasses@gmail.com and visit their website, that's still under construction.

That's my class update for now! Please take a look at my website Knit Boise, the About page, and shoot me an email if you have questions knitboise@gmail.com

I hope to see you in a class soon!
